PU PSC launches postgraduate diploma in Local Self-Government

The University of the Punjab Pakistan Study Centre, in collaboration with the Department of Political Science, organized the launching ceremony of the 4th batch of the Postgraduate Diploma in Local Self-Government on 7 April 2026 at the University of the Punjab, Lahore. Prof. Dr. Amjad Abbas Khan (Director, Pakistan Study Centre) presented the welcome note while Prof. Dr. Rana Ejaz Ahmad (Chairperson, Department of Political Science) concluded highlighting the significance of the diploma course. The ceremony was attended by academicians, officials from the Local Government and Community Development (LGCD) Department, and representatives of civil society, including Ms.Beenish Fatima Sahi (Director General, Local Government), Zahid Islam (Executive Director, Sangat Development Foundation), Dr. Farooq Ahmad Khara (LGCD Department), Bushra Khaliq (Executive Director, WISE), Salman Abid (Executive Director, IDEA), Mehmood Masood Tamna (General Manager, Punjab Municipal Development Fund Company), and Mobeen-ud-Din Qazi (Advocate Supreme Court).Mr. Zia ud Din Ansari ( Advocate Supreme Court) Organized with the support of Sangat Development Foundation (SDF) and WISE, the initiative aims to enhance understanding of local governance by equipping participants with knowledge of policy-making, citizen engagement, and administrative structures, thereby contributing to improved grassroots governance in Pakistan.
